Carex egorovae
Systematics
Taxonomy of the group in Cyprus is far from being resolved (see already Meikle 1985) and is in need for further clarification. C. divulsa s. str. seems not to occur in Cyprus. Most of the cited specimens have been revised by Molina & al. (2008) and determined as C. egorovae and C. cyprica respectively (Kotschy 620 from division 3 needs clarification). The former species is the more controversial taxon and has been lumped with C. divulsa s. str. recently (Euro+Med PlantBase: http://ww2.bgbm.org/EuroPlusMed/). However, it seems to be closer to C. polyphylla (= C. divulsa subsp. leersii) regarding some important characters.
